Analytics

Any Name.ly site can use internal analytical tools to track its visitors as well as add the site to an exising Google Analytics account.

Both Name.ly and Google deploy JavaScript (JS) technology to confirm traffic on JS enabled browsers. The former also counts hits not confirmed by JS and provides results instantly while with Google you usually have to wait for the next day to see the today’s stats.

Name.ly observes all requested pages and hence provides more accurate numbers on the real traffic. Although, a significant part of it may be generated by search-engine and other sort of bots, i.e. robots. Because of this, JS or confirmed numbers provided by Name.ly on all stats graphs should be regarded as the best approximation for the real visitors. Where appropriate, they are accompanied by the total figures for all three sorts of visitors: all+bots,  confirmed or site admins only. Note, that admins are included in real visitors and those confirmed ones are included in all+bots.

With Name.ly we aim to provide you with general details on your visitors’ statistics, which usually satisfies the needs of 99% of our customers. For more advance options and reporting you are advised to enable Google Analytics.
